Bansko is Bulgaria’s premier ski resort and is a key part of Bulgaria’s application for the upcoming 2014 Winter Olympics!!
It has 70kms of slopes all of which are served by snow canons and have been approved by the International Ski Federation as suitable for competition: 30% beginner, 45% advanced, 35% expert, fun park for extreme skiers/boarders, all slopes are tree lined, lots of nurseries for beginners/children, Height – 925m, longest run – 16km, lunch on slopes - €4 average, ski storage – leave them over night at the bottom of the slopes (no need to drag them back to your hotel as in France).
White Fir overlooks the 11th green of the brand new Ian Woosnam Golf Complex. The 72 par course measures 6790 yards from the back tees and conforms to USPGA standards. A second course is also near to completion. The clubhouse and practice facilities are all top draw. A Disney style village of quaint shops and restaurants has also been built which adds a real fairytale touch to a stunning place.
If its adrenaline you are after Bansko is your place no doubt about that. The amount to do is only limited by your imagination; ok slight exaggeration but you get the idea. Here are some ideas; ask at reception and we will arrange your day: quad biking, white water rafting, buggie trekking, 4x4 safaris, bungee jumping, single engine air, tours, horse riding, paint balling, go-karting.
Bansko is home to an abundance of birdlife and wild flowers which will keep the enthusiasts endlessly thrilled. The mountains are also home to many archaeological delights, ancient towns, Thracian remains, caves, thermal spa towns and much more... For the more energetic there is also first class fly fishing and hunting (deer and wild board).
